The Work Authorization Card
Yep. Another immigration update. After the biometrics appointment, things went quiet again for several weeks. Randomly, we received a letter that said my Chinese wife’s application had been forwarded to the USCIS office in California to “speed things up.” Sure… A few weeks later, a priority mail envelope arrived. That’s when you know something good is happening!
So Sarah’s temporary work permit is finally here. It’s good for one year and doubles as a travel permit. The wording on this is a little uncomforting, though. It says that while you are now allowed to leave the country, parole upon your return is not guaranteed. I guess there’s really no official peace of mind until you’ve been green carded.
